You wake up in the church as Selenia. Angel, that does not know what happened. And trying to figure out everything, same as you are new into this game.
You are trying to explore and make your way out of this place. But this all church with all city has been swallowed by a giant worm. And you need to find way out. After making it through a destroyed city melting under worms gastric juice, you find yourself facing the first boss. And with a bit of luck, you will be able to save Rebeca, a human girl alchemist that will help you on your journey and she can help you upgrade your stats. This is a wholesome experience because you can between each area sit down with Rebeca and have some small talk, tee or just sleep together in a tent (save). Now there are not any of the old areas from the first game and also no seven deathly sins. But still, there are great locations made to feel, how it will be like if hell invaded the world.
Just as the previous game there is a soul upgrading system that helps you progress. There are two new weapons added (detonator and musket). Also ending are not chosen by you directly, but is the outcome of your gameplay and your given ranks at the end of each area. You can also turn off Gore on the menu. A new thing is a difficulty option. You can choose one of 3 difficulties (Easy, Normal, Hard), and 4. difficulty is open after completing the game once (Zealot). And it’s not the only illusion of difficulty, because enemies have more hp and that’s all. Easy makes your enemies slower, fewer projectiles from enemies, and less stuff to deal with. Normal is similar to the first game. Hard makes your enemies faster and more projectiles will be fired at you. Zealot is pretty much as Hard . . . but with only one health. So one mistake and you are dead. It´s a real challenge because you need to clear perfectly not the only area you are in, but also boss. It’s very sadistic, but fitting for this kind of game.
