Grundlewhack is a mixed-medium VN/CCYA with light gameplay outside the VN norms and choices that truly matter. Like, for real.
Set in a magical world that’s fucked in the head, Grundlewhack smashes the genres of Fantasy and Dark Comedy together, pioneering a new genre we call Dark Fantasy…
Wait, shit…that name is taken. Then just call it whatever you want–it’s a hell of a good time.
Our story follows three young mages whose reddened asses have been kicked to the curb after their expulsion from the realm’s most prestigious school of magecraft. The totally-not-bitter trio is ambitious to make a name for themselves out in the whimsical, whacked wilds that lay beyond that good-for-nothing school. Luckily for them, one of the trio is a worshipper of an ancient douchebag demon, and she thinks his old pleasure palace is a great place to start! Nothing should go wrong with that plan!
With over 300 pages of written branching content and growing, expect an experience of epic proportions, with defining choices that will set your story down a unique path. We mean this: your decisions will matter in Grundlewhack.

Rector Rocksteady
What happens when the guy from the legendary, heroic bloodline gets kicked out of school for doing something that would make his forefathers roll in their grave? Just ask Rector.
He’s cocky and a little bit spoiled, but getting expelled has made him really take another look at himself, if only to make sure he still looks good. We meet Rector at the beginning of his growth, both as a mage and as a person. He fucks up a lot along the way trying to become better at both.
Valora Tweed
Based on her yearbook picture, you’d assume Val has never done a single thing wrong in her life. You know, a good-two-shoes, top-of-the-class, boring type. For Val, that’s exactly what she wanted them to think…When her true self was discovered and she was expelled, her peers were all asking “Wait, that girl was doing what??”
She’s prim and proper and by-the-book, especially when it comes to showing her devotion to a dark art. But in a world of demonic worship, “by-the-book” is like saying “here’s how to set the world on fire.” Come along as she sets the realm ablaze.
Rooney Summershandy
At Zadzax and Sons School of Magecraft, innovation and forward-thinking are admirable traits in young mages-to-be. But for Rooney, “innovation” meant abomination and “forward-thinking” meant going too far.
But that sounds dramatic–she’s simply a kindhearted, well-meaning mad scientist who won’t take no for an answer, even if it’s being painfully screamed at her. Plus, she’s made some really neat stuff! Come and check them out (from a distance)!
Grundlewhack is the product of three minds stuck in quarantine lockdown, and it’s a story we’ve fallen in love with as we write and build it. Expect regular updates and bonus content just because we love making this world bigger.
