In Soul Saver, you play as Tina, the savior of souls. She arrives at some desolate ruins and finds a crystal that appears to speak, next to a woman, who introduces herself as the priestess Edona. She is there to help Tina free souls from the undead world and lead them to the afterlife. Touch the teleport crystal to explore the undead world and fight aggressive souls so they can advance. Gameplay is traditional turn-based combat. Enemies are visible and there are no random encounters. In battle, you and your opponent use AP for each action you take, and each action costs a certain amount of AP. If you run out of AP, you can use the standby option or use an AP replenish item. You progress through the area by activating switches and unlocking doors to reach the boss monster in the area. If you are defeated in battle, you will get a sex scene and be taken back to the ruins, where Edona is. The Ruins area is where you level up your stats, heal your HP and AP, and upgrade your weapons and armor. You can talk to Edona to access the store and increase your stats with the experience points you earn in battle. If you have the right materials, you will be able to upgrade your armor and weapon at the blacksmith. If your health is low, be sure to go for a dip in the spring to regain your health.
